10 Best Dressed at the Grammys

Happy Tuesday, y’all!

Hollywood awards season is still in full swing. In less than two weeks is the biggest movie awards night of the year (aka the Oscars), and this past Sunday was the biggest music awards night of the year … the Grammys!

I’m gonna be real honest with y’all, I didn’t watch the Grammys. I didn’t even watch the live stream of the red carpet on E! News. I know, how absurd of me! I’m just not as excited about the Grammys as am about the Oscars or Golden Globes. I’m more familiar with movie actors/actresses than I am with music artists. However, that didn’t stop me from looking online and seeing what the celebs were showing off on the red carpet. I gotta say, I was very impressed! From Miley Cyrus’s chic pantsuit by Mugler to Anna Kendrick’s sweet and sassy Roaring Twenties dress by Ralph & Russo, I didn’t find myself disappointed one bit! Although I’m a little bummed Carrie Underwood didn’t attend the ceremony because she always has the most glamorous red carpet outfits. But hey, you can’t always get what you want. Plus, I’m thrilled that she finally had her beautiful baby boy Jacob and is taking time off for family. God bless her and the Underwood-Fisher fam!

Anyways, here are my top ten favorite red carpet looks from the Grammys!

1.) Lauren Daigle

Best Dressed at the Golden Globes

Happy Tuesday! It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these posts. I’m happy to be (sort of) back in the routine, and you’ll get to see even more posts with winter, spring semester, and awards season currently happening!

Speaking of awards season, did anyone watch the Golden Globes this past Sunday? I sure did! Ever since I was a teenager, I’ve always enjoyed watching Hollywood award show events. As I watched the glamorous events happen on the TV screen, I would daydream about having the opportunity to attend one of the many popular award shows, wear a beautiful haute couture designer gown, and meet some of my favorite celebrities. But for real, what teenager doesn’t dream about all that? And if I’m being honest with myself, to this day I still dream about attending an awards show, movie premiere, or some kind of big Hollywood event. I obviously don’t want to be a celebrity, but I would love to be an audience member just to be a part of the action. I bet events and shows also look for influencers or bloggers to help sponsor, so that’s definitely a possibility. Never give up on a dream!

One of the best parts about watching award shows, besides predicting and seeing who wins, is seeing the celebrity fashion on the red carpet. The glitz and glamour is everything. As a fashion blogger and fashion student at Kent State, it makes perfect sense as to why I love it. I always love imaginig what my favorite celebrities are going to be wearing and actually seeing what they wear, either better than I imagined or not what I imagined at all (which could go either way). It’s always felt like a special occasion for me, even if I’m watching from my couch in my sweatpants while eating pizza and drinking wine. Award shows are my version of Super Bowl games!

With that being said, here are my top ten picks for best dressed at the 2019 Golden Globes!

1.) Gina Rodriguez

Gina+at+Golden+Globes.jpg

Gina is such a cutie. I immediately fell in love with her look when I first saw her on the red carpet. This dress is like a combination of Cinderella and a goddess. She looks so elegant and sexy all at once!

Designer: Reem Acra

2.) Holly Taylor

Red is my favorite color, so this dress is a winner to me. I love the straps and how from top to bottom flows like a mermaid tail. Holly looked adorable!

Designer: Ines Di Santo

3.) Kristen Bell

rexfeatures_10048065fk.jpg

This is what I call a timeless Hollywood look. Kristen looked absolutely drop-dead gorgeous and flawless! I loved seeing photos of her twirling in the dress on the red carpet. She’s an actual Disney princess come to life, just like her character Princess Anna in Frozen!

Designer: Zuhair Murad

4.) Kaley Cuoco

The navy velvet top is cute, the belt is cute, the bottom is cute, and her hair is cute. Cute cute cute cute! Plus, the dress also has pockets! Kaley actually said in an interview that wearing an outfit with pockets helps her stay calm on the red carpet. That’s such a great idea. And who doesn’t love pockets?!

Designer: Monique Lhuillier

5.) Keri Russell

What’s not to love about this dress? She looks so sexy and gorgeous! The neckline is a little too low in my opinion, but the dress overall is super glamorous.

Designer: Monique Lhuillier

6.) Julia Roberts

This was one of my mom’s favorite looks, as well as mine. I love the nude bottom tulle cape and top with the black pants and heels. It looks so chic and simple at the same time. I love how women’s pants are becoming super popular and trendy on the red carpet!

Designer: Stella McCartney

7.) Danai Gurira

rexfeatures_10048067ll.jpg

This look is so fiery and fierce! I fell in love with Danai when she played Okoye in Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War. She can slay in Wakanda AND on the red carpet!

Designer: Rodarte

8.) Halle Berry

FullSizeRender.jpg

LOVE Halle Berry with long hair, especially in that sleek ponytail with bangs! And this dress looks amazing on her. She is literally slaying the red carpet. She is a killer queen!

Designer: Zuhair Murad

9.) Emma Stone

rexfeatures_10048065el.jpg

I’ve always adored Emma Stone, and so does my dad and almost every guy I know 😂 The rose gold tulle and metallic embroidery match elegantly and make the gown fit for a princess. I heard a few people comment that the top of her dress looked too puffy, but I don’t think it looks that puffy. Plus, puffy tops are so in now!

Designer: Louis Vuitton

10.) Lady Gaga

Periwinkle is one of my other favorite colors, and I love how the dress and hair match. Only Lady Gaga could rock a look like this. Sorry, Judy Garland!

Designer: Valentino

BONUS: Emily Blunt

What can I say? She’s practically perfect in every way! She and her husband John Krasinski also win Best Dressed Couple in my heart. If you haven’t seen pictures of them from the other night, go Google them right now. You won’t regret it ❤️

Designer: Alexander McQueen

Friday Favorites (Fall Edition)

Thank goodness it's finally Friday!

This week sure flew by! But of course, there was enough time to round up a few favorites of mine from the past few days and now is the perfect time to share with y'all. So before I kick off the weekend, I want to show you some finds that made this week more inspirational and happy, and I hope they are a great start to your weekend!

And in honor of the first official day of autumn in two days, I’m sharing all of my so-far fall favorites. It’s finally fall, y’all!

Favorite Scented Candle: "Flannel"

Flannel Candle.jpg

You know I'm a sucker for fall scented candles. Although I wish I had a full extra coupons when I made this purchase rather than buy it at full price, I do not regret it one bit. I love this candle, probably my favorite fall candle that I've ever owned! It's so cozy and warms the room with the scents of fresh bergamot and heirloom mahogany. It reminds me of crisp autumn air, or a freshly washed flannel!

Where To Buy: Bath & Body Works

Favorite Sweater: Raglan Sleeve Pullover

Altar'd State Campus Sweater.jpg

You guys, this sweater is AMAZING! The texture is so cozy and it's so stylish, absolutely perfect for autumn! I decided to try it on out of curiousity while shopping at the mall and immediately fell in love right away. I was like, "I have to get this", and so I did. I'm going to post a fashion blog about it very soon, so stay tuned to read more about it!

Where To Buy: Altar'd State

Favorite Book: Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone

IMG_9487.JPG

The entire Harry Potter series overall, including the movies, call out autumn thanks to the magic and wizardry. It especially speaks the spooky season when Harry and his friends start at Hogwarts in September and the Halloween feast a few chapters later (even the part with the troll creeping into the castle). And once you're finished with the book, you can read all the other books in the series from there!

Favorite Hand Wash: “Pumpkin Cupcake”

Pumpkin Cupcake.jpg

Bath & Body Works just happens to have some of the best scented soaps and lotion during the fall! I’m obsessing over this pumpkin cupcake scented hand wash at the moment. I smells so sweet and pure. I recently visited my grandparents in Lima and they had this in their bathroom. I think I used it at least five-ten times, and some of those times weren’t even for after going to the bathroom!

Where To Buy: Bath & Body Works

Favorite Song: “Old Shoes” by Adam Barnes

I don’t know why exactly, but this song reminds me of autumn for some reason. Probably because it’s smooth, peaceful, and something you would play while taking a walk in the crisp chill atmoshpere.

Friday Favorites (Week of April 16th)

Thank goodness it's finally Friday!

This week sure flew by! But of course, there was enough time to round up a few favorites of mine from the past few days and now is the perfect time to share with y'all. So before I kick off the weekend, I want to show you some finds that made this week more inspirational and happy, and I hope they are a great start to your weekend!

Favorite Book: Live Fearless: A Call to Power, Passion, and Purpose by Sadie Robertson

Live Fearless.jpg

Y'all, this book is amazing. I'm not even halfway done reading it but it's already one of my favorite books! This is perfect for Christian college-aged and teen girls struggling with fear, insecurities, and anxiety. Sadie Robertson is a true inspiration and her empowering words should encourage everyone to overcome their biggest fears through the love of Jesus. I say in a world full of Kardashians, be a Sadie!

Where To Buy: Barnes & Noble

Favorite Necklace: Harper and Jewels copper choker

IMG_6283.JPG

As you may already know, I am currently a brand ambassador for Harper & Jewels. I'm absolutely in love with this choker necklace, I feel like a rockstar! It also still elegant and looks great with almost any kind of outfit!

Favorite Breakfast Meal: Toast with Peanut Butter, Bananas, Granola, and Honey

So delicious and nutritious at the same time. Peanut butter and bananas are a great combo. To be honest, I'll eat almost anything with peanut butter! Okay, not everything, but you get my point. Click right here to get the recipe!

Favorite DIY Idea: Floral Vanity Mirror

Mirror mirror on the wall, who is the most floral of them all? This is a cute project that I want to work on myself once I'm done with classes!

Favorite Song: "Whatever It Takes" by Imagine Dragons

This is one of those powerful songs that gives you motivation and confidence no matter what kind of situation you're in. The part where he sings, "Cuz I love the adrenaline in my veins" speaks to my soul every time!
