You might be wondering about this new blog post and how it's a bit different compared to my other ones. Well, I have officially made a new decision ... I'm going to start writing movie reviews! Yay!
I'm such a big fan of the film industry, so much that I actually considered becoming a screenwriter before I got to college. I love movies, whether going to the cinema when something good comes out or when I'm in my pajamas at home watching a favorite with family or friends. One of my favorite feelings in the world is the feeling I get after watching a very good movie, it leaves me going to bed with my smile on my face. I believe Steven Spielberg himself once mentioned how watching movies is like therapy for him, which makes sense coming from one of the biggest creative minds of the film industry! I have to say though, I'm very picky about my choice of movies. I hate scary movies, I'm not crazy about depressing movies, and I refuse to watch a movie where a dog, cat, or any innocent animal dies or gets hurt. So don't expect every weekend a review of whatever big movie just opened, I'll only write when I see a new movie and end up liking it. My preferences involve action, comedy, romance (rom-com to be more specific), and a bit of fantasy. Not including rom-com, I saw the perfect movie this past weekend with all these genres: Thor: Ragnarok!
I don't want to give away any big spoilers to anyone who hasn't seen it yet, but let me just say it was so good. Many critics have been saying this is one of Marvel's best movies yet. I would have to agree with that, I also believe it is the best Thor movie yet. Taika Waititi, the director, did such a great job adding more background and effects to the story, as well as more humor which was missing from the first two movies. Chris Hemsworth has such a great sense of humor (as well as a great body and face, am I right ladies?!) and I'm glad it was used for this movie. I'm also glad that they updated the Hulk and made him look for real, which hopefully means will bring a new era for his character. Loki, of course, is as charming yet mischevious as always, with a bit more humor this time. Valkyrlie is a great breakout addition and overall perfect character. She's so spunky and brings more girl power to the Marvel universe! Of course I didn't like Hela since she's the main villain, but Cate Blanchett is an amazing actress and portrayed her like a badass. Kinda of like Maleficent in a way. I also have to mention, Doctor Strange makes a short cameo and it's absolute perfection! No, that's not a spoiler because everyone knew ahead of time that he was going to be in the movie.
I don't want to go on much longer because I don't want to give away the plot, but it was amazing and I highly recommend seeing it whether you're a superhero fan or not. I definitely think Marvel is evolving into a greater era for cinema and this new movie proves those expectations. The new details reminded me a lot of both Guardians of the Galaxy movies, which would make sense considering they're connected in the same universe! Marvel has done an amazing job using creativity to make superhero movies more entertaining for audiences of all ages. I'm definitely on Team Marvel, I don't even give a crap about DC! Except for Wonder Woman, she's a freaking badass. Now after seeing Thor: Ragnarok, I'm so pumped and eager for Avengers: Infinity War! Speaking of which, when are we finally going to get a trailer?
