Graduation season has arrived! There is so much going on during this time, such as walking up the stage to receive your diploma (while trying not to trip on the way up), preparing for move-in to college, making money, and of course, graduation parties.
Setting up and hosting a big party for all family members and friends to come celebrate your educational victory can be a loaded amount of work. My family and I were very exhausted when the party was over and done, my mom even stated that the next huge party she will plan will be my sister and I's weddings! Despite the exhausting work that's put into making a fun party, the results are worth it.
When hosting a party, I want every guest to feel welcome and treated well. It is important to plan some ideas for people that will make their time at the party enjoyable and fun. This week's top ten list shares my ideas, some from my grad party and some from others, to make the best graduation party possible!
1.) Candy Jar
My mom used this idea for both me and Lauren's grad parties, and it was the biggest hit. There was M&M's, Skittles, licorice, gummy bears, chocolate bites, pretty much any kind of candy you could imagine. Talk about one heck of a sugar rush!
2.) Memory Jar
Each guest that comes to the party has the option to write down a little note with a favorite memory they had with the graduate. When the party is over, the host/hostess can look at all the notes to see what everyone wrote, and to bring back sweet times!
3.) #Hashtag Sign
Social media is a big part of our world, so encourage your guests to share their party experience online! Make a sign and put it on the entrance, using a specific hashtag for your party (ex. #CarolinesGradParty). This gives guests the opportunity to take pictures and share on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and Vine. This gives the host/hostess an opportunity to check the pictures out after the party!
4.) Dr. Seuss's Oh, the Places You'll Go!
This is one of the most popular ideas for any graduation, both as a gift and a part of the party. The book is usually every spring's bestseller due to the amount of people who buy them for graduates. It is very motivational and inspiring gift that family members and friends write friendly messages in as a sendoff to the upcoming future!
5.) Slideshow Video
Oh how the years go by! It is amazing to see the transformation of one person, from an infant to an adult. For our two grad parties, we made a montage slideshow using old pictures from the past years and influential music. Whatever computer you have, any video-making program should work well.
6.) Drink Bar
Instead of just one alcohol bar and coolers for regular drinks, set up separate bars: water, juices, soda, and booze!
7.) Small Flower Vases
Any type of flower makes everything look good, not just parties. Word.
8.) Photo Booth
Photo booths don't only have to be for weddings! Get a picture frame and some fun graduation-themed props to take cute or humorous pictures with friends and family. Another idea is to get a chalkboard or eraser and have guests hold them up for the picture, with the board indicating what year they graduated high school from!
9.) Photo Display Area
No graduation party is complete without pictures of the graduate himself/herself. Bulletin boards are always the best to use to display both old and new photographs.
10.) Party Playlist
Create a music playlist with the songs you love. Try also to get song recommendations from guests, but mostly use the graduate's picks.
